After conducting research on the Prague Spring of 1968, we found that we still have some questions that were left unanswered. We hope to further address these loose ends while we travel the city.
1. How much unbiased information do the citizens of Prague know about the Spring of 1968? How did the propaganda they were shown affect their lives and their views towards their government and the communist regime?
2. An article written by Morton Schwartz at the start of the reformation addressed how radical the ideas were found to be throughout Prague. Did Dubcek and other political leaders in Prague expect to carry out these reforms on a long-term basis without intervention by the Soviets?
3. Through our research we found that many political thinkers in Prague were also journalists and writers whose craft was suppressed by the censorship set in place by the communist regime. How the yo-yo-ing of censorship, to idealogical freedom, and back to censorship affect their journalistic ability to report with unbiased integrity and their political ideologies?
